Sunday, May 08, 2011 ( @ 12:49 pm ) i must say that given what i had read online on the comments section, the results was surprising. but then how many comments had i read and how many people were there in singapore? i think the difference should be quite immense. i know i was quite anti PAP at the beginning of the elections, but i don't know, as the elections continued...i became more pro-PAP. I am annoyed however at the comments i read on the yahoo election results for singapore. people should not rant that other people did not vote who they really want because of fear, or because they don't follow through with their passion. looking at the votes, i must say, it sure doesn't seem as though people did not act on their thoughts. PAP really won on a very low margin this year, and just because they won this year...does not mean that it was because most of the people feared them and hence voted for them. there can only be so much of fear...and speaking of which, why would there be fear? fear that if they voted wrongly they will lose out? that's human nature. so then why not say...the people voted following their human nature? doesn't that sound so much more encompassing? tsk. honestly, how many comments are there online? some may be posted numerous times by the same person! and there's 2.3 millions people in singapore. how many don't have facebook or are inactive on facebook? Tons! i just don't like sore losers. but i also don't like sore winners. if people have voted for PAP, then it's who they have chosen. they may be caught up in the hype but perhaps after reflecting on it, they have followed their gut feelings? who knows right? shheesh, so stop saying that people did not act on what they had been saying? how do you know that for sure?!! i know i sure as hell don't. and initially i was worried for PAP as well, because looking at their years of service to the people on a broad aspect, they really did a lot of make singapore what it is today. it was just unfortunate that all the bad things happen in the last 2 years. although the HDB pricings and the extravagant influx of foreigners had taken years to have the current results. having said that, i'm glad that the government had the chance to listen to what the people feel upset about in this election. maybe and hopefully, this time they'll take more note of what the people of singapore want, and work towards making singapore feel more like home to the singaporeans living there. it's going to be so troublesome getting my name back onto the list of electors. but sigh. have to do means have to do. =/ 3x3eunt. 0 comments |
